Public input wanted for new Safety Action Plan focused on St. Louis County roads
St. Louis County Public Works is developing a new Safety Action Plan (SAP). The plan will focus on all county roads except those in Duluth. (The Duluth-Superior Metropolitan Interstate Council is conducting a separate Safety Action Plan.) The Safety Action Plan studies are made possible thanks to federal funding from the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Program.
The goal in developing the new plan is to identify and prioritize traffic safety needs on the county highway system outside of the Duluth metro area. This plan will recommend future traffic safety projects for implementation as well as document what safety improvements have been completed and are currently programmed. The focus of this safety plan is all transportation users, including people who walk, bike or roll.
The public is able to provide input on safety concerns and suggestions through the project website: St. Louis County Safety Action Plan | Engage St Louis County. The website includes a comment map where people can post input specific to a location. It also includes the option to take a survey or to sign up to participate in a focus group.
