Popular Author and Designer to Bring Stories of Aprons to the Lake Vermilion Cultural Center

Are you interested in sewing? Do you have a favorite apron or a story about one from the past? If so the program next week at the LVCC with author and designer, Mary Mulari is for you. Mary will tell the story of women’s history and share her vintage and new age aprons. The program will be held on July 22 starting at 6:30 in St. Mary’s Hall. Wear or bring your own apron and share your story. A pie social will follow her presentation. Donations will be accepted for pie and beverages.

Mulari started her career by experimenting with sweatshirt decorations and began teaching classes in community education. Her decorating techniques and creative projects expanded beyond sweatshirts, to other garments, accessories, appliqué, fabric design, reversible apron patterns, and more. She has written nine books featuring her own hand lettering and illustrations.

Mulari has also appeared on over 50 programs as the most frequent guest on PBS television’s Sewing With Nancy. Her entertaining and inspiring seminars have gained her a following at sewing events, guilds, and stores throughout the US.  She continues to develop ideas for new publications, test products for the sewing industry, and designs DIY sewing kits.

As a member of the 4-H Club in Palo, MN, Mulari learned to sew. She has a bachelor of science degree in English education from the University of Minnesota, Duluth. She lives in Aurora with her husband, Doug Gregor. More information about Mulari can be found on her website, Marymulari.com
