Fishing With Z

What an interesting time on Vermilion right now! Up and down weather and the bite is changing every day! But it’s changing for the better usually.
This week we did the typical mid to late summer techniques to catch fish! We caught some jigging, some lindy rigging, some on bobbers, some trolling, and I’ve heard of some being caught on spinner rigs! Any technique you want to do can produce some fish, the biggest key is finding the active fish. If you’re on pods and they won’t bite, they probably won’t for a while as there is so much food in the system they are full!
I have been focusing on the 17-27’ range in all spots. Pulling Lindy’s with a crawler or minnow from .2-.5 has produced fish. Jigging with a minnow has also produced fish. When jigging, move very slow along the edge of rock and gravel to sand transitions to find fish. Sand humps have been our best spots for walleyes right now.
Things are changing every single day with the weather so being able to adapt and change to something completely different has been huge. Just because you catch them jigging one day doesn’t mean you will the next. If what you’re doing isn’t working, change asap. I expect the jigging rap bite to really take off anytime. It’s been nonexistent, only getting maybe 1 per day for us, but it should pickup any day as we get closer to August!
July is full, and August is well on its way to full! If you want to get out give me a call or text (218) 404-9200 anytime and we will get you on the books! I have a few mornings and some evenings available yet in August. I still have Labor Day weekend open! The best fishing of the year is going to be here very soon and it’s going to be awesome! Give me a call and let’s go make some memories! August and September are perfect times for a shore lunch trip!
As always, tight lines!
