Fishing Report

Week #19 September 16-22, 2025

Water temp: 63-65

Things are changing every day with the constantly changing weather! The beginning of the week was much slower for us. Tougher bite with a lot of small fish being caught. The end of the week was much better with a very nice average size and a lot more fish being caught!

Our best bite has been the jig pattern we have been on! Usually this time it year I am focusing on deep water but the fish just aren’t there. 15-30’ rock and rock edges have been my target areas. All minnows for me. Jig size seems to be a huge factor right now as well. Using the smallest jig you can get away with in the wind is important. Color is changing every day.

I’m expecting the bite to really take off with this beautiful fall weather coming. On Sunday when the sun came out in the evening and the wind switched to the west we caught 4 fish with 3 being over 15.5” in less than 10 minutes to finish out our trip.

The common themes from this week are only catching a few fish from each pod. On days when they are very finicky it’s pretty normal to only get 1-3 fish per pod, on better days it seemed we could get 7+ fish out a good pod. The second thing about right now I won’t lie about is saying it’s easy, because it’s not. The fish aren’t exactly jumping in the boat so changing techniques has been huge. You might get one vertical, one casting, and one snap jigging. Sitting in one spot and doing one thing that’s not working will make for a long day. I have 3 rods in the back of the boat I rotate through trying different things to see if there’s a certain technique they want.

This is week 19…which means we only have one more report left for the season. I will still be posting every few days with short updates on how things are going so stay tuned for those! This has been an amazing year and I’m excited to finish it out strong! I have a few openings left in October so if you want to get out one last time give me a call or text (218) 404-920!

As always, tight lines!
