June might dry up even more
My dad was a teacher at Lincoln, Kennedy and Washington schools in Ely nine months out of the year and worked in Dave Desannoy’s gravel pit near Tower the other three months. In the early 80’s he taught me to run a backhoe and a bulldozer. I hope I can dust off those 45 year old skills because I just got a deal on an old Cat D2 dozer. It should come in handy cutting some lanes on my property. Normally I would wait until the ground was frozen to do that because who wants to get four tons of steel beast buried in the mud of the Sax Zim bog? However, this June may be awfully dry which might minimize that risk.
LVCC to Host Three Events in June
The summer season is starting with a fun line-up of events at the Lake Vermilion Cultural Center.

LVCC Online Auction Begins Today More Live Auction Items Announced
The Lake Vermilion Cultural Center will be hosting it’s first online auction as part of the annual Midsummer Benefit. It begins on Friday, June 6 at 9:00 am and will end on the night of the event, June 14 at 6:00. There are up to 50 Items in the online auction including an exciting selection of services, activities, art, gift cards and gift baskets. The advantage of an online auction is that participants can view the items and make bids even if they can’t attend the event or are outside the area. Participants can view the auction without an account; however, an account is needed for entering bids. Setting up an account is simple. Online payment will be required and will speed up the check-out process. You may find the auction items at www.32auctions. com/LVCC2025. A QR code (pictured) is also available to access the website. The 32auctions website is easy to use and has an abundance of help tools and a demo to guide you along.
