Cook says goodbye to McDonald’s
May 28 was the last day that McDonald’s in Cook was open for business. The next day, and for several days to follow, saw the dismantling of the Golden Arches.
Two Days left to Bid on LVCC Online Auction
Lake Vermilion Cultural Center is hosting it’s first online auction as part of their annual Midsummer Benefit. It started on Friday, June 6 and will end on Saturday, June 14 at 6:00. There are 48 Items in the online auction including an exciting selection of services, activities, art, gift cards and gift baskets. Anyone can view and bid on the items even if they can’t attend the event or are outside the area. Participants can view the auction without an account; however, an account is needed for entering bids. You may find the auction items at www.32auctions.com/LVCC2025. A QR code (pictured) is also available to access the website.
LVCC “Mandala and Margarita” Registration Available Online
On Thursday, June 26, “Mandalas and Margaritas” will be held in the classroom at the Vermilion Park Inn, in Soudan. A mandala rock painting class will be led by Di’s Dots (Diana Magner). Supplies, snacks, margaritas and other beverages will be provided. Tickets are $40 and must be purchased in advance on the LVCC website. Ages 12 and older may attend. However, youth need to be accompanied by a paid adult. A photo of the mandalas may be found on the LVCC website, vermilionculturalcenter.org. Watch this paper for more information next week.

The Sheriff’s Office has received numerous reports of a scam going around through text messages and want citizens to be aware. The messages are claiming to be from the Minnesota Department of Vehicles (DMV). They state you are in violation of Minnesota State Administrative Code 15C-16.003 related to an outstanding ticket.
