May 28 was the last day that McDonald’s in Cook was open for business. The next day, and for several days to follow, saw the dismantling of the Golden Arches.

Lake Vermilion Cultural Center is hosting it’s first online auction as part of their annual Midsummer Benefit. It started on Friday, June 6 and will end on Saturday, June 14 at 6:00. There are 48 Items in the online auction including an exciting selection of services, activities, art, gift cards and gift baskets. Anyone can view and bid on the items even if they can’t attend the event or are outside the area. Participants can view the auction without an account; however, an account is needed for entering bids. You may find the auction items at www.32auctions.com/LVCC2025. On Thursday, June 26, “Mandalas and Margaritas” will be held in the classroom at the Vermilion Park Inn, in Soudan. A mandala rock painting class will be led by Di’s Dots (Diana Magner). Supplies, snacks, margaritas and other beverages will be provided. Tickets are $40 and must be purchased in advance on the LVCC website. Ages 12 and older may attend.
