Songs of The Anishinaabeg, A Night Sky Drum Program to Performed at the LVCC
On August 28th beginning at 7:00 pm, “Songs of The Anishinaabeg, A Night Sky Drum Program” will be held in St. Mary’s Hall. It will be a special evening of Anishinaabeg Nagamon, where the Night Sky Drum group will share songs and drum teachings. A suggested donation of $10 for adults and $5 for those under 18 will be accepted at the door.

Volunteers in Education Heads Back to School in September!
VinE, also known as Volunteers in Education, has been serving students in Northeast Minnesota since its founding in 2008. The organization’s core mission is to engage the community in educating its students, supporting their growth, and preparing them for productive citizenship. VinE currently serves schools within the St. Louis County, Mt. Iron-Buhl, and Rock Ridge Public School Districts and is excited to work with students again during the 2025-2026 school year.

I was recently issued a 2024 Dodge Durango, replacing my 2019 Dodge Charger. Dodge discontinued making the Dodge Charger for a few years but is supposed to be coming back. State Patrol’s main squads are Dodge Durango or the Ford F-150. The State Patrol issues new squads to troopers when the vehicle reaches approximately 120,000 miles. The retired squads are then auctioned off online to the highest bidder.

This is a high-risk time of year for West Nile Virus transmission. Activity in mosquitoes, humans, and animals typically peaks in the latter half of the summer. WNV is regularly found in the U.S. and birds serve as the primary host of the disease. The virus circulates between infected birds and mosquitoes.
