“Mandalas and Margaritas” Will be Hosted by the LVCC
“Mandalas and Margaritas” will be held on Thursday, June 26 in the classroom at the Vermilion Park Inn, in Soudan. This mandala rock painting class will be led by Diana Magner of Di’s Dots where you will learn the unique art of dot mandala painting. A mandala is a geometric design or pattern, typically circular, that represents the cosmos. The word mandala comes from Sanskrit and means “circle”. Di’s Dots will provide all of the necessary materials, including stones, handouts, paints and dotting tools to use in class. Participants will be guided through the process learning different techniques to create a beautiful dot mandala design on a casted 4 inch stone. The goal is to get you comfortable with the technique, so you can go home and continue painting on your own. Get ready to relax, unwind, and let your creativity flow as you learn in a fun and friendly environment.

Of Fishing and Legends
My friend Don sent a text message the other day that brought back a nice memory. It was a beautiful evening, calm, warm, and partly cloudy – a perfect night for fishing. Don, his grandson, Bryce, and I were chasing walleyes on Vermilion. It should have been just another night on the water but little did I know the evening would propel me to legendary status. Yeah, I was surprised too. But that’s just another wonderful aspect of fishing – you never know what you’re going to get.

Sixth Grade and Kindergarten Graduation
The staff and students gave the Kindergarten and sixth graders a touching send-off at our annual graduation day. Each sixth-grade student presented a portion of the ceremony to the audience. The Kindergarten sang a few songs, and we watched a “Remember When” slideshow pieced together by Harley and Clementine. They all received certificates of accomplishment prior to the sharing of cake and punch. Congratulations, Kindergarten and Sixth-Grade!!
