August was a very busy month. I also completed numerous TZD shifts with extra speed and DWI enforcement. Summer is winding down and the leaves are starting to change. I assisted the BIA and St. Louis County Sheriff’s Department with concert security over Labor Day weekend. It was well attended and went smoothly.
We participated in National Night Out on August 5th in Ely. This was a good opportunity to interact with our community members, especially our youth. Our youth are the future; it is important to set a good example.
I also had a meeting with teachers at the Northwoods, Northeast Range, and Tower Schools. I will be teaching GREAT at these locations this school year. The program continues to grow. We have had very positive feedback from both students and teachers.
I have a couple of reminders for our readers. Please move over when you meet
emergency vehicles. Driving to emergencies is dangerous, please allow us extra room. The second reminder is that the speed limit is 50 mph between Soudan and Tower. We are strictly enforcing this speed limit in the area.
Have a safe and healthy year.
Daniel Reing
