This weeks Bible Verse

From Becky Kitzler/Ely,MN

Joshua 24:15

“But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” (NIV)

Reflection

This verse is a powerful call to decision and commitment. Joshua challenged the people of Israel to make a clear choice about whom they would serve, reminding them that neutrality is not an option. In a world filled with distractions, competing priorities, and subtle idols—such as success, comfort, or approval—this message still resonates today.

Joshua’s declaration, “as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord,” shows leadership rooted in faith. It’s not only a personal commitment but also a promise to guide his family toward God’s ways. Serving the Lord isn’t just about words; it’s a daily practice of trust, obedience, and love.

This verse invites us to examine our own hearts. Who—or what—has the greatest influence over our choices? Choosing to serve the Lord may not always be easy, but it brings lasting peace, purpose, and joy that the world cannot offer.
