Fishing with Z

Week #15 August 19-25, 2025

Water temp: 68-72

Fall is in there air! 45 degrees when I left the dock this morning and it felt amazing! It looks like the fall weather is here to stay as highs are in the upper 60s touching 70 and over night lows are near the 40s! With this cool down, the fish have responded and they are biting.

You can catch them about anyway you want to right now! This past week we caught them trolling cranks and on a jig!

Trolling cranks between 2-2.5 mph in the mud was our best bite. Each day was different on speed as well as each spot. Play around with the speed and color and you’ll have plenty of walleyes!! We were fishing anywhere from 18-27’ of water.

The walleyes we got on jigs were all in 20-25’ of water on the edge of rock structure. I expect this bite to only pickup as we get cooler temps and they start to transition over the next few weeks to their fall patterns before winter.

There’s plenty of fish to be caught on spinner rigs, jig raps, and lindy rigs as well! Whatever technique you prefer, you can probably catch walleyes doing it right now!

Days are limited for the rest of the season! Here before long there will only be time for 1 trip per day and then openings go very quickly! Call or text (218) 404-9200 anytime to book or a trip or ask about dates! I can accommodate large groups as well, just let me know and I’ll have multiple guides lined up! Let’s go make some memories, the best time to be on Vermilion is right now!

As always, tight lines!
