Week #11 July 22-28, 2025

Water temp: 70-74

The bite is starting to heat up on The Big V! Took some time off this week to catch up on projects and to dialed in for the second half of the season! But, I did sneak out a few times and to do some scouting and personal fishing!

At the beginning of the week we were riding the high of cool over night temps which meant we had a strong trolling bite first thing in the morning. Since then with these hot temps that bite has all but stopped so don’t get the lead core rods out just yet. I’m sure there is still a few being caught, but it’s hardly worth the time right now. We are back on the late summer lindy rig bite per usual for late July on Vermilion!

I am finding all of my fish in 18-24’ sand and dragging a lindy with live bait. There has been reports of and fishing coming into our resort that are still being caught on bobbers and leeches in 8-12’ of water. This is definitely a low light option especially during the evening hours! I expect the spinner bite and jigging rap bite to only get better for the next month. It’s been slow so far but the fish are setting up perfectly for this time of year and the food is slowly becoming less in the system!

The two big keys for this time of year are fish the low light hours and move if they aren’t biting. Simple, but hard to do as people get caught up in their electronics and trying to make fish bite. If they don’t want to bite, they aren’t going to. They are full and lazy still so move on and try to find feeding fish!

The absolute best time of year is almost here on Vermilion!! Fall is only a few short weeks away and the fishing is starting to get hot! Now is the time to book a trip and have a blast on the water! Lindy rigging and jigs right now but soon enough the lead core bite will be going and that’s the best time to get the whole family out to catch some fish! Those are the remaining dates for mornings trip for the entire month of August! I have plenty of evenings left in August as of right now.
