Fishing report! Week #8 July 1-July 7, 2025Water temp: 70-74

Bug hatches were the name of the game this week as it’s that time of year!
We caught half of our walleyes on slip bobbers doing the same things we have been for a month now! Wind blown rock points and piles are still producing fish. Finding areas with “less” bugs seemed to play a huge role in catching fish versus not catching fish. The other half of our fish came on lindy rigs. Dragging a crawler or leech less than .5 mph on the humps and reefs produced good numbers of fish. 15-24’ of water produced the most fish for me. Tons of small throw back type fish but if you worked long enough you could sort through and get some dandy eaters! I have not tried minnows yet as keeping them alive with these crazy warms temps lately would be a pain.
I spent a ton of time bass fishing this week which was an awesome change of pace! Slip bobbers, soft plastics, and top water were the presentations of choice. Nothing giant but a lot of solid Vermilion 3 pounders everyone knows and loves. This fish fight harder than any fish around and if you have ever caught them on top water you know the thrill!
The bite will only get better from here on out as we move on from the bug hatches!!! The bug hatches seemed to be more normal this year compared to the last few. Hot steady temps let them hatch and do their thing very quickly and the fishing shows!
As we progress through the dog days of summer, trips will start to become harder to get! If you want to get out, let me know! I still have openings after July 15 through the end of the season! This year has been a record year so far for walleyes and I imagine that it’s only going to get better as we get into the end of July and move onto lead-core! Give me a call or text anytime to book a trip, (218) 404-9200 and let’s go make some memories!!
As always, tight lines!
