LVCC to Host Four Events in July

Mark your calendars for these four exciting and varied events to be hosted in July at

the Lake Vermilion Cultural Center in Tower.

The Northern Lights Music Festival is returning to St. Mary’s Hall for the third time

with a Chamber Concert on July 9 at 7:00 pm. The concert will feature members of

their performing faculty. A highlight will be “Music for Cimbalom” performed by

Moldovan virtuoso, Ivan Curtean. Tickets may be purchased at

northernlightsmusic.org or at the door for $15 adults, $5 children.

Author Colleen Baldrica will present a program called “Everybody Has a Story” on

July 15 at 7:00 pm. Colleen will share her story as to how she came to write her book

Tree Spirited Woman and discuss the writing process, with questions encouraged by the

audience. A free will donation will be accepted.

Four retired music instructors from St. Scholastica will perform as a group called “Four

Friday Fipple Flute Friends” on July 17 at 7:00 pm. This recorder playing group includes Karen

Keenan, Shelley Gruskin, Penny Schwarze and Bill Bastian. They will explore music from the

13th to the 21st centuries. A fee of $10 or “pay what you can” will be accepted at the door.

The last July event will be “Vintage & New Age Aprons” with a pie social which will take place

on July 23, at 6:30 pm. Don’t miss this trunk show of aprons from the past and present with

Mary Mulari. Everyone attending is encouraged to bring or wear their own aprons to show, and

to share their stories. There will be a suggested donation for pie and beverages.

The summer programming for the LVCC is made possible by a grant from the Arrowhead Regional

Arts Council. More details will appear in this paper as the dates approach. Information will also

be available on the LVCC website: vermilionculturalcenter.org and on the LVCC FB page. The

LVCC is located at 705 Main Street in Tower.
